Room 6 on 'the zig zag path' – circa 1989

Room 6 held a party in 1989 on the ‘Zig Zag’ path on the old Toll road in Folkestone near to the Leas. If memory serves, the police stopped it fairly early into the night which was a shame. The DJ equipment etc was set up in one of the ‘caves’. It was an ideal venue and can’t think that anyone would have been disturbed due to its location.

Some pictures of the ‘Zig Zag’ path today (August 2010). The Toll road has now been closed and converted into a children’s adventure playground.

Before becoming Reincarnation in 1991 the promoter '691' put on events in 1990 called 'Serious Rave'.

The Lido was a regular venue for raves and became famous for the Seduction events there. Dance Dimension put on a show to rival any of the Seduction's.

Reincarnation raves at the kings hall were always packed. Room 6 DJ's along side the likes of Loft Groover and Colin Dale. The photo below is cira 1992 (a few faces from Folkestone at the front)

Tranqulity

On 18th May 1991 Room 6 DJ's were due to play at Tranquility in London.

Unfortunately the rave had no licence. Myself and a few others met at the services on the M2 and followed the lead in the convoy who knew where it was. It appeared that he had no intention of keeping the convoy going and drove like an idiot losing everyone. I ended screeching round corners so much trying to keep up that one of my tyres burst.. I don't think anyone from our convoy made the venue. Some of my freinds who had gone up earlier made the venue but the police arrived and shut it down before it started. Sadly this was in the days before mobile phones were common place so we had no idea where it was.

Thought of the night...... Should have gone to Dance 91 at Pickets Lock..

This set is TNT from Global Dance 2.. It's 1991 at it's best...

The 'Room six in the house' was chopped from the last few seconds of the set and put at the begining.. but other than that it is untouched (apart from being cleaned up a bit)

The Raves at the Warren - Folkestone

Room 6 held a couple of raves in the Summer of 1989 at the Warren in Folkestone.

With not much more than a generator, some decks and stobes the setting was amazing amongst all the trees. From the top of the Warren looking down you could hear nothing but could see the distant flicker of a strobe light.

As you climbed down the paths approaching the strobe the bass gradually got louder and louder.Probably no more than a few hundred people attended the nights, but they were memorable none the less.
